Barracudas Championship Meet Information / RELAYS

Championship Relays ____2017____

Division Championships Relays

Cutoff date to achieve times for Division Championship Relay consideration: Jan. 23 (times from time trials will be used for consideration)

Time Trials will be offered on ___Jan. 23____ for Barracuda swimmers.

Times from the time trials, along with best times from recent dual meets & invitationals will be used to determine Divisional Meet relay teams.

- Barracuda Time Trial times cannot be used for Zones qualifications.

League Championships Relays **

Division Championship Relays that qualify for League Championships - all qualifying members of the Division relay team will be a part of a League Relay team unless a swimmer from any relay in that age group is unable to attend the League Meet. In the event that a relay swimmer is unable to attend the League Meet, the fastest possible relay will be entered. If no alternate is available to fill the space in the slowest relay, the slowest relay must be scratched. A relay team member may be removed if he or she has shown unsportsmanlike conduct or behavior. Alternates will be chosen by the head coach.

Zone Qualifications**

Our team goal for Zones is to send the largest, most competitive team possible to the zone meet.

Cutoff date to achieve times for Zones Relay consideration:March 4 (League Meet)

There are two ways to qualify for the Zone meet:

1 - Achieve a zone qualifying time in an individual event during a valid YMCA or USA meet (HS meet times are also accepted). or,

2 - Be selected by the head coach for a qualifying zone relay team**. Only times achieved through the League Meet will be used for relay consideration. Selection is based on swimmers’ fastest recent times and is at the discretion of the head coach.

Zone relay swimmers will be announced March 7, 2017.

Last Chance Meets

YMCA dual, and YMCA & USA invitational meets through the League meet are acceptable means of obtaining times to be considered for Zones relays & to qualify for individual events. Last chance meets (after the League Meet) are a great way to get another chance to qualify for an individual zones event, or to qualify a relay that has not yet qualified, but Last Chance meets cannot be used to obtain a place on an existing qualifying relay.

Last Chance Meet times CANNOT be used to obtain a team record.

** Unsportsmanlike Conduct / Behavioral Issues - Relay team members may be removed from a relay team for unsportsmanlike conduct, violations of the code of ethics, bullying or behavioral issues at the discretion of the head coach.

Notes...

  • Remember, NO FAST SUITS for dual meets or invitationals.  Our team policy has always been that swimmers will not be permitted to compete in 'fast skin' type suits at dual meets, regular season invitationals or regular USA meets.  They may be worn at all championship meets, and USA Prelim / Finals meets.  If you have questions or wish to have a special consideration, see Coach Bev.
